Off topic: AutoVue / Excel question

Hi everyone,

I have an off topic question. We receive a Pro-E assembly from another company, which I then exported as a BOM table that was imported into Excel. The only problem is the company we received the files from did not provide any drawings, and the part description parameter is blank in the Pro-E parts / assemblies. So the part description will be a best guess as the information is not available.

Another engineer is attempting to create descriptions for each part in the Excel BOM (Exported from Pro-E) while looking at the Assembly in AutoVue. He tried to copy the part name from AutoVue and use the find search in Excel to locate the part in the BOM. The problem is AutoVue does not seem to let you copy the part name in the assembly tree. Has anyone had a similar problem and can recommend a solution for copying a part name from AutoVue? Is there a way to link Excel with AutoVue and do a part number search?

Chris
