Hello
When opening this step-file on my Creo 8.0.9.0 I get the whole part, also with the all the inside geometry (which I don't need to know). The file is way to big to work with it in my assemblies.
Is there an import-setting or something that I can do to just import the 'outer surface' of the part? The inside can be a solid for me.
Thanks in advance,
Pieterjan
If you are not able to control the export of the STEP to get what you need from the source, then there are a couple of options that might work.
1) Use the import data doctor to edit the import feature (delete geometry you do not need from the import data set).
About Import DataDoctor in Creo
2) Import the STEP and then use Shrinkwrap to export a level of detail for your needs.
Dear tbraxton
I can't set any geometry to delete with the DataDoctor so I don't think it would work / don't know what to do with it.
The Shrinkwrap would only delete 1/3 of the amount of surfaces when it still needs to look the same. Even if I do that and I open my new Shrinkwrap-file, it is empty.
Post the STEP file here for review. Without access to the data, it is speculative when making suggestions.
If you only have the STEP file to work with and assuming that surfaces were exported.
(Need to set hidden config.pro option 'intf3d_in_as_part" to 'yes“)
1. Export assembly to STEP with 'Surfaces' geometry option selected in Export STEP dialog box
2. Open saved STEP file (Import as a Part) > In Model Tree select Imported Feature > RMB (Right Mouse Button) > Edit Definition
3. Enter IDD editing environment > Expand all the component features in model tree > delete unwanted surfaces & save the model
