Sheetmetal Forms: Die vs. Punch

Good afternoon everyone,

I'm about to add a feature to a part which will become standard. I am currently in the process of making the model as intelligent and easy to deal with as possible to save us time in the future. The feature I'm about to create is an extrude on a hole and I am wondering... what is the difference between the die and punch selection in the form feature? I have never had a preference for one or the other given I can usually get the die option to work the first time.

What do you prefer and why? Does it really make a difference? If I pick one and the design intent changes down the road will this be an issue like it is with adding a flat vs. adding a flange? Thanks for your help.
