Suggested Design Guidelines for Pad Printing?

Hello,

Does anyone have suggested design guidelines for designing parts to be pad
printed? Specifically, I am looking for the following:

. Maximum depth for pad printing over an embossed logo. How shallow
does it need to be? What is the maximum height permitted for a logo raised
above the surrounding area?

. Is surface curvature permitted in two directions (X &Y)? Some
articles have suggested limiting surface curvature to one direction only.
What is your experience?

. Pad Printing over a textured or irregular surface: What are the
limitations?

I am interested in learning about personal experiences in designing plastic
parts for pad printing, and what, if any, design changes where required for
pad printing on a surface. Also, what alternatives have you used /
considered in-place of pad printing (example: hot stamping)?

Regards,

Chris Thompson
