dimension question...

Just wondering if anyone knows what he tolerance spec "e9" means next to
a dimension. I have a customer part with a diameter dimensioned 27e9.
Its metric, so the diameter is 27mm. Just not sure what the tolerance
would be.

Thanx in advance

Tony

Tony,

It is defined in the ISO dimension standards

Ron

Hi Tony,

The tolerance on your nominal dimension of 27 is -40 to -92 in micron.

Small "e" should be for shaft size, not hole size. A "27 e9" shaft would have a valid range of 26.908 - 26.960. A "26 E9" hole would have a valid range of 27.040 - 27.092.

Thanx everyone for the quick replies. I knew it was an ISO tolerance,
just didn't have the info.
