I've been going crazy trying to determine the value used to choose Creo View MCAD at startup in the preferences XML for Creo View. I have the option "startup_mode" in the XML file.
If you set:
<preference name="startup_mode" value="pvstandard"/>
It will launch with Creo View Standard.
If you set:
<preference name="startup_mode" value="pvlite"/>
It will launch with Creo View Lite
One document says "pvpro", nope. Another says "pvmcadpro", nope. Bot will not lauch Creo View at all. I have scoured the documentation and support site to no avail (surprise...).
Anybody know this one?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Mine is "pvpro"
Have you tried these steps:
1) temporarily rename user_prefs.xml file.
2) Launch Creo View to MCAD license.
3) Shut Down Creo View. (the user pref gets updated)
4) Review user_prefs.xml file to search for startup_mode and then copy the code.

Hi Bill,
Thanks for the reply. We have the problem that you can set MCADS and do the steps, but when you launch pvpro grabs both the MCAD and the only ECAD license we have. That little wrinkle is now churning through PTC support.
Mark, I'm glad you have time to write up PTC cases for issues like that one...I noticed the same issue, but wrote it off since we don't have anybody using ECAD.
