Hi,
I am trying to run a static analysis of a threaded member and am not sure on how to model it as the threaded member and bracket have clearance.
please refer to the image attached. Item # 1 is the object of interest. it passes through and is held in position by the welded bracket (Item # 4). Should i be using a contact interface between the components 1 and 4 ?
Could anybody throw some light on how to get this ready for analysis please?
Using Creo Simulate 7.0

Hi,
I am sorry I can't help you. Analysis topic is not my cup of tea.
Simply model it without any interface between these 2 parts and review the magnitude deformation result - this approach should run faster. If the threaded rod deforms enough to contact the bracket, then re-run with contact. You could also hand-calculate the deformation of a simple round beam and see if it deflects enough at those locations to require contact in your full model.
Good Luck!
