No FlexNet Licenses detected

I am trying to run an upgrade on ProE to Wildfire 3.0. I installed the license server using the wildfire 3.0 installation disc and configured it with my current updated license file. When I run the install on the client machine I get a warning No FlexNet license files detected at the specified location….blah, blah, blah. Does anyone know why? The server reads the file fine, and I can ping the server.

My first guess would be there is a firewall on the server blocking the particular port(s) needed for licensing. Try turning the firewall on the server off altogether just to test the theory, and if that is it, you need to find which ports are required. They documented the ports used in the KB. I seem to remember some conflicting information though. One article says it's not possible to use a firewall since the ports are random, and then another tells you how to configure the license server to use a consistent port so the firewall can be used. I have made it work, so it is possible.
