Arbortext and Win 7

We currently are using 5.3. Corp is upgrading to 64bit Win7 in near future. Will 5.3/5.4/ or the new 6.0 be supported on 64 bit?

Thanks.

Hi George,

In the latest Software Compatibility Matrix, Editor 5.4 M80 is compatible with 64bit.

Editor 5.3 should work but is not certified.

Editor 6.0 is likely to support 64bit but the SCM is not published yet.

Cheers

Thank you for the info !

Hi

More details, the 5.4 version of Arbortext Editor/Styler/PE will need to be installed as 32bit applications on 64 bit machines. With Arbortext 6.0 these products can be installed as 32bit or 64bit applications.

Windows 7 was officially supported with 5.4 M030.

Please let me know if you have further questions.

Thanks

Susan

Is Arbortext Editor 6.0 work with PE 5.4?

Hi Sudheendra,

Publishing Engine (PE) always needs to be at least the same or later release/datecode as the Arbortext Editor clients using PE.

So for example if your Arbortext Editor clients are 6.0 M020 you need to have at least Publishing Engine 6.0 M020.

Sirko

Hi Sirkko,

Thanks you very much.

Now, We need to decide on weather to migrate to 6.0 or not.

Regards,

Sudheendra

Hi

Actually, take a look at the Software Platform Compatibility matrix on PTC.com:

http://www.ptc.com/WCMS/files/125168/en/Arbortext-Software-Compatibility-Matrices-6.0M030-7.2M010-11.0F000.pdf

There is a note on the first table, footnote 8, that states Arbortext Publishing Engine 6.0 Supports Arbortext Editor 5.4 F000+. This configuration has been tested by our QA. Ideally we would guide our customers to have PE and Editor be at the same release versions, however we are aware this is not always easy to get in place.

Thanks

Susan
