I'm not sure if this is considered complex or even desired, but I just make
an API call to launch a browser:
try {
Runtime.getRuntime().exec("rundll32 url.dll,FileProtocolHandler " +
queryString);
}
catch (IOException ioe) {
log.warn("Error loading heading tool.", ioe);
}
Or if it's just a local call (as we run our XML through an XSL and store it
as a local, temp file), just prepend file:///, e.g.:
Runtime.getRuntime().exec("rundll32 url.dll,FileProtocolHandler file:///" +
outFileName);
