what additional XML training would you recommend for "advanced" authors?

I'm being asked by an author what XML courses she could take to learn about
what is going on behind the scenes. I had three answers:

1) Take a DITA class. We don't use DITA but it is "hot" and would provide
nice examples of data modeling, reuse, inheritance, and many more good
concepts to have when working behind the scenes in XML.

2) Learn about all the things I don't support:

I just thought to add XSL and xQuery as possibilities if she's really
interested in learning directly-XML related technologies.

Hi Paul,

When I started with this stuff 5 years ago, I got a print manual for a course called "Getting Started with ACL" from PTC. It's in a binder on my desk. I don't know if that's a subject that your author is interested in, but if it is and if she's in Denver, she can just come get it from me. I've also got a book about XML covering various topics that she's welcome to borrow.
