How do you set spin center or change the axis the part is on?

Hello,

I am trying to create an animation. When I select one part I can move it on the right axis. When more than one part is selected to move as a group, the axis changes. Can you change the spin center to set the axis where you want it to be? Is there another way to the axis so that I can rotate multiple parts around one part? For example, if I am showing a fan spinning around the drive holding it on, then I show the back and want the fan and the bolts to spin together properly, so they have the same center axis around the drive holding it on. It keeps wobbling on me to go through the part than around it. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Dustine

Hi,

To change the coordinate system for a part/parts you do the following:

Select the part/parts you want to rotate, and in the RMB menu select Location>Select coordinate system

Select+coordinate+system.png

Then select the part you want to rotate around:

Select+part.png

Hit OK, then when you rotate the selected parts they'll rotate around the centre of the part you chose:

Rotate+around+part.png

You can also select a face or axis on a part to use as the coordinate system.

Hope this helps.
