Component Operations: Merge

When activating a subassembly, the command Edit - Component Operations - Megre is grayed out. Is that the supposed to happen? The command Insert - Inheritance (or Merge) is not what I want. Using Wildfire 4 M050 - Thanks.

Yes, it is supposed to be grayed out. When we merge one part (say B) into other part (say A), the complete assembly will be grayed out leaving part A in its original shaded view beacuse after the merging operation, part A will be automatically activated. I do not have idea of Inheritance (or merge) as I dont have license for this command. Ankur

I believe the command will only operate on the top level assembly so activating a subassembly will cause Merge to be greyed out. Open the subassembly with the parts and then try to Merge.
