New WF 2 functionality - Right angle head

Hi,

Has anyone used the right angle head functionality yet in a real world
environment? How's it working, etc.?

I am doing some testing and have come across something I am currently
discussing with the hotline and wanted to get all your opinions.

From talking with our programmers who currently use right angle heads,
there are 2 values that must be taken into account, the value from the
guage line to the tool center and the center of spindle to the tip of the
tool.

When you create a right angle head model to use as an attachment you need
to create 2 csys: spindle_control_point, tool_attach_point. The
spindle_control_point is located at the guage line. The tool_attach_point
is along the tool center. The tool is then attached to the
tool_attach_point csys. When using the attachment option, it outputs a
line in the ncl file:
SET / HOLDER, 1, SETOOL, 0.0000000000, 6.4610000000, -12.7500000000, $
The 2 values in this line are generated from the x and z dist from the
spindle_control_point.

What I have found out that troubles me is that solid tools vs. parametric
and sketched tools assemble differently. Solid tools assemble to the
tool_attach_point via the TIP csys. Parametric and sketched tools,
however, assemble to the back end of the tool, NOT the tip. So the
tool_attach_point csys must be located back in the attachment. This will
then change the first SET / HOLDER value so it does not include the length
of the tool. (ie. 6.4610000000- 4 in tool=2.461).

Am I looking at this wrong or are we missing something? I will post any
results.

Jeff,

I haven't done any right angle machining with Pro/E, but I do know that
www.proetutorials.com is coming out with a tutorial just for this function.
We've used their tutorials and in my opinion you can't beat the value.
