Summary: Replacement Graphics Card
Lots of suggestions, thanks all. The most common suggestion was the FX
1400, but several others were mentioned. It looks like the FX 1000 / FX
3000 were the mid range & upper end when my entry level FX 500 was new.
Looks like the FX1400 is available for under $500 and the older FX3000
can be had for $200-$300 on eBay.
Two cautions were expressed. If I need AGP, act fast as they are
becoming scarce. Check what my power supply is as the higher end cards
are power hogs, 100 watts for some models. I have no idea on either one
so I've got some digging to do.
