Unresolved references

I have an older model which I did not create.
The workpiece would not regenerate because of
missing references. I went into sketcher to try
to correct the problem but every time I tried to do something
it said outdated references. I could not even exit sketcher
I had to shut Pro-e down. How can I find out the exact problem
and how to fix it?

The model must have changed. It's looking for features that were previously referenced that are no longer in the model. You can select current surfaces on the model as New References, then try to Update the ones that need to be. After this, any remaining references that still need to be Updated, or ones that are missing, will probably have to be Deleted in order to exit Sketcher mode.
