Can anyone confirm the rumor... with documentation, that WF5.0 will have accuracy absolute only? If so I'm curious what the default value is? Anyone currently using absolute now ? if so what value ? any conflicts or problems ?
No, Relative seems to be default, at least on Pre-Production. It is now listed in new GUI Model Properties. It's a bit strange. If I change a model that was created with Relative accuracy I can only change the value. However if I change a model created with Absolut accuracy I'm allowed to change to Relative. If I change from Absolute to Relative I'm also allowed to change back to Absolute. This gotta be a bug. See attached pics.
I've worked with absolute accuracy pretty much exclusively for the 12 years I've used Pro|E, with few issues. In fact, I tend to have more issues when I use a client file with relative accuracy. We use an absolute setting of 0.0001". Absolute can slow regen times if set too tight, but I've found it to result in more robust and predictable models. With relative accuracy, the effective accuracy of the model varies with the model size. If during development, a model changes size dramatically, features can fail unexpectedly. For example, say the design is simplified and two parts are combined into one. You open one model and insert early into the model tree new features to expand the part to include the geometry of the other. Because of the increased model size, the effective accuracy of the model is increased. That means the smallest allowable edge is larger and later features like draft or rounds which created small details are no longer within the new accuracy limits and they fail. It can be maddening to try to figure out why. The flip side can be true as well. If a model gets dramatically smaller by changing early features, the smallest allowable edge is decreased and now rounds may regen differently, creating smaller detail than was allowable before.
Thanks to all that replied! Turns out PTC will NOT have Absolute Accuracy in WF5 as the default, it will remain untouched but they are looking at this for future releases. Absolute Accuracy seems to be the way to go when using Pro/NC.
I am trying to dimension a 3d Isometric view. Pro does indeed creates a dimension, however, it is not the correct value. I have allowed 3d dimensioning in my config file, but does not have any affect. What am I missing?
Thanks
