I'm curious about how Mechanica treats a load distributed on a beam.
I have a beam-based trailer frame I'm analyzing, and I came up with some unexpected results (see the attached picture).
I was not expecting the stress in the center beam to be so much lower than the of the frame - in fact, I was expecting it to be higher. Closer inspection of the results show a stress of under 500 psi in this beam. I KNOW that aint' right.
I'm going to re-run the analysis, substituting the one distributed load with many smaller point loads, but in the meantime, can anyone tell me why this is behaving this way? It seems like Mechanica is making an assumption I'm not aware of.
