Four easy problem-solving techniques

We see problems through different perspectives and practice several ways to solve them. Here are some simple yet effective measures I am using.

Define

Identify your issue first! Exploring what exactly is going wrong isn’t always easy and may require you to think this over repeatedly.

If performance of your tasks/project is substandard, one of the reason could be that only a small module in your project is not performing well.

Sometimes there may be an issue with the wider structure of your project. No matter what the source of the issue is, you may need to repeatedly check and verify the cause of the trouble before taking actions to address the symptoms.

Mark options

Once you have your problem clearly defined, your goal is to find ways to solve the problem. Writing down your options will help you get an overview and help you prioritize.

Evaluate your options

Now is the time to evaluate! Now, carefully analyze all of the possible alternatives based on their outcomes and effects. Making your plan and having back up plans is essential as you don’t want to start all over if you run into challenges with execution.

Implement your choice

Implementing what you have drawn from all the evaluations that you have done till now is certainly a critical peak. Here you must stick to your decisions and don’t let others irritate you. You have put your best thoughts into resolving this, so be confident! If it’s not working then your backup plans can do the trick.

Looking beyond the obvious and having an open mind when trying to solve a problem is always good.

Consider other people’s input, but be structured – take notes and thoroughly evaluate steps and their potential results while keeping your goals in mind!
