Material Management with Windchill - advisory

As follow-up to our call today, we're planning an architecture spike for material management in Windchill (to include related Creo capabilities).  This spike is likely three 1-month sprints this summer.

In advance of this spike kicking off, James, Marcus, and I can collect your perspectives on your needs and priorities.

Let's use this thread to collect your ideas.  We'll plan to meet next after LiveWorx (and we should have more companies participating by then too).

Thank you in advance for your participation.

Enjoyed spending time with many from this group at LiveWorx last week!  For Sustainability, we had 27 related sessions.  The decks are on the LiveWorx site.  A discussion with CK about Sustainability is publicly available here, and I attached our "Sustainability 101" presentation this posting.  Next week, I'm in Washington DC at the Economist Sustainability Week, and will report back.

To follow up from our last call, we aimed to set up a dialog with our R&D architects that are scoping Windchill material management enhancement this summer.  Please let me know if you're interested in participating.

If there's requests for other specific topics, or we'd like to have a general session in addition to the material deeper-dive, I'm happy to set this up.

Enjoy your weekends,

Dave

Hi Dave, thanks for sharing the information. I am very much interested in having the above discussion with your architects. We (as a company) are just taking a broader view on Material Management as we understand how material selection, cost, manufacturability, material compliance and sustainability are intertwined.

Have you been able to inspire more PTC customers to participate in this Advisory Group?

Have a nice long weekend

Andreas

Hi Andreas.  Good news - The discussion with the architects will cover the fuller scope of material management - footprint is just part of it.

We got a lot of interest at LiveWorx to join the community so I expect many people to trickle in over the summer.

~Dave

I am also interested to join the discussion.

Best,

Katrina

Excellent.  We'll have others joining this community too on the Material Management topic - likely 7-10 customers engaged, which is a good target for effective discussions.  I expect this to begin in 3-4 weeks as the new Windchill release sprints begin.  More to follow.

On a separate note, we're concurrently evaluating technologies and approaches to trace supplier impacts from factory receiving docks back to their original sources (mines, reclamation, etc).  These were focused topics at last weeks' Economist Sustainability Week.  If this "cradle to gate" is important for you, these discussions will get interesting soon as well.

Hello team, now that the next Windchill versions' sprints have begun, we'll engage with a lead Windchill architect and other CAD/PLM development leaders on the material management research spike.  I meet with them internally on Monday, after which we'll kickoff with this team before July 15.  We expect 3-5 additional companies to collaborate with us on this.

Since it's holiday season for most of us, we'll push forward with sessions knowing that we'll have partial participating any given time.  We'll use this forum to share meeting details and also have discussions, allowing people to catch up after their vacations.

Looking forward to it - expect an invite for kickoff shortly.

Regards,

Dave

We kicked off today (ppt attached), reviewing the approach, and had thoughtful discussions to lead off the requirements gathering.

The next steps are company-specific interviews to learn the needs and priorities, which we'll aim to complete over the next 4-5 weeks depending on holiday schedules.

To sign up for company-specific interview with PTC R&D on your material management needs, please register here and we’ll schedule with you at your convenience.  The interview duration is 1 hour: https://forms.office.com/r/9PSpim5R6G

As always, feel free to start or contribute to this discussion anytime within this forum.  Following the interviews, we'll come back together as a group to progress collaboratively (time TBD, but likely late August due to participants' holidays).
