Welcome to 2025 and the PTC User event

Happy New Year!  Steve Shaw and I are each presenting on sustainability topics at PTC User next week in New Orleans.  If you'll be there, we look forward to seeing you.  Else, we'll bring feedback back to the community.

We're continuing to progress priority roadmap items, and welcome your inputs.  As a reminder, current activities include:

  • ALM - Codebeamer Sustainability Requirements Template.  Releasing March
  • PLM - BOM Roll-up.  Phase 1 released in December.  Phase 2 is coordinated with our Material Management developments, targeting October 2025.  Additionally, we partnered with Makersite for LCA and are preconfiguring connections with PLM REST API's to facilitate this LCA integration - due spring time
  • CAD - Material Management alignment with Windchill.  This is being co-developed with PLM on similar timelines.
  • SLM - ServiceMax Asset Hub, to include Digital Product Passport capabilities.  Due later in 2025.

Please reach out if you have questions on any of these or would like a session on them.

Sincerely,

Dave

Good afternoon and evening,

We just returned from a productive PTC User event in New Orleans.  Sustainability was a dedicated topic in some sessions, and commonly an embedded topic in others.  In case you missed it, here are presentations from the event that may interest you:

  • "Improving Product Sustainability" - our standard intro.  Many in this group have seen this.
  • "Sustainability - Engineering Material Management and BOM Roll-Up" - this content featured in both PLM and CAD sessions.  Additionally, R&D conducted over a dozen 1:1 user sessions in the UX lab for material management.
  • "PLM for High Velocity Product Development" - Beginning on slide 17, Steve discussed needs and approaches for efficiently handling attributes that may not need to be configuration-managed (example:  you may choose to frequently update a material and/or supplier water intensity without the desire for revision overheads).
  • Also, a reminder that Elena Angst eangst@ptc.com hosts access to our Codebeamer Sustainability Template - reach out to Elena if you'd like access to our early version.  It formally releases in March with Codebeamer 3.0

Enjoy your weekend, and feel free to request or start discussions on these topics.

Regards,

Dave
