Important Update about support for Oracle 12cR2 and 18c
Support for Oracle 12.2.0.1, 18c & 19c. Oracle 18c & 19c are branches of 12.2.0.1
Oracle has mentioned on the public site that 12.2.0.1 would have long term support. What we have learned on doing further research is that Oracle 12.2.0.1, 18c and 19c collectively would have long term support. Based on the information, we also believe that 19c is actually the only release with long term support and 12.2.0.1 & 18c are not part of an actual long term or patch support. The lifecycle of these two releases is shorter than the support cycle for 12.3.0.0
Though this topic is not concluded on at this point in time, we may end up only supporting 19c for production purposes and 12.2.0.1 for test environments to help customers plan their upgrades.
