It's not possible to locate the selected field in the edit issue/item dialog. This can't be done with the Integrity Client or Web interfaces, and you can't get this info from the Java API editissue command either.
It might be possible to build a custom interface that has this info ... I'll let someone more familiar with this type of customization comment.
