In this announcement, we will cover a new capability that allows viewing procedures on a wider selection of devices and additional features that give authors more granular control in authoring and editing procedures.
Scaling the viewing of procedures to desktops, laptops, and tablets
Manufacturing and service organizations utilize a wide range of devices to deliver knowledge and information to their frontline workers. Enabling the broadest types of devices and systems possible is critical in being able to scale the delivery of Expert Capture procedures to the largest possible audience. It achieves many new experiences and use cases. Most importantly, it delivers knowledge and provides the proper context in systems and essential materials where and when your skilled workers need it.
When publishing a procedure, a new option is available called “Copy link for desktop playback.” This option provides a URL that can be accessed by any desktop, laptop, or 2-in-1 laptop that converts to a tablet and supports Windows and MacOS versions of Google Chrome. This link will always reflect the most up-to-date version of the published procedure. You can also embed this link in PDF files, work orders, or any system that allows you to manage, schedule or provide information to your manufacturing operators and service workers.
Editing procedures with more control
Vuforia Expert Capture continues to make the process of editing procedures easier and more precise. Vuforia Editor has improved the procedure video timeline so you can be exact in clipping sections or navigating.
Video timeline zooming
When procedures have many steps, the timeline may become so crowded that it is difficult to navigate and effectively select video segments for clipping. A new timeline zoom feature allows you to magnify the timeline so you can comfortably navigate and make clipping selections.
Frame-by-frame navigation using arrow keys
This capability allows you to advance 1/32 of a second backwards or forwards using the arrow keys so you can stop precisely where you want, possibly to capture an image from the video.
Clipping adjustments
The clipping frame has been improved so that it also responds to a frame-by-frame increase and decrease using the arrow keys
