I had some queries regarding what is serial ID and its importance in Vuforia Expert Capture.

Can anyone brief me about this.

Hi Aditya,

The Serial ID input is a field for easy identification in the insight overview.
Not something that is used bij VEC itself. You can use it to identify specific products/machines.

Does this provide enough information?

So basically serial id are only used for products/machines.

Also can serial id also be used to distinguish 2 individual products of same kind?

eg. I have 2 machines A and B which are to be inspected but both machines are of same type so can we use serial ID in this case?

Exactly! Just a way of providing clear division in your insight database.
Usecase could be that you want to have a quick overview of all maintenance that is done on machine A with serial id: XXX-YYY and not see the results of machine B. You can filter on this in the insight database.

One more doubt, can you please tell me the format of the serial ID like does it allows alphanumeric input or special characters and what is the maximum length of the string supported?

The format you can choose yourselves. The maximum I am not sure.
