Lately I've been feeling like ESI is a bit heavy for our company's use cases. It's to the point that I feel like I'd rather use something else.
Now that the odata REST api is in place and seems to work rather well I was wondering if it could be a good replacement for our ESI integrations. Rather than placing an xml file somewhere that is configured through distribution targets with a 4 page configuration wizard (exaggeration) then building a custom integration piece to read and ship it to our ERP... could we just have our custom integration piece use the rest api and pull part data?
Has anyone in the community gone down this path/thought process? Am I nuts?
