32-bit Embedded Browser in x64 Pro/E?

I'm trying to settle a bet with the IT group.

Using Wildfire 4 64-bit on Windows XPx64, connected to Pro/Intralink 9.1.

I understand Pro/Intralink (Windchill) relies heavily on Java to provide most of its functionality. I also understand that Wildfire 4 uses Internet Explorer for its embedded browser.

The 32-bit version of JRE6 is installed (in the "Program Files (x86)" folder).

So the question ... is 64-bit Pro/E using 32-bit Internet Explorer or 64-bit Internet Explorer?

The following is from my CAD Integration Export

64-bit internet explorer!
In fact your IE settings can differ between 32 and 64-bit browsers, and therefore your embedded browser can act differently than your manually launched IE (default is 32-bit).

And you mentioned Java. ProE uses its own locally installed Java, not the system installed Program Files Java.
There is NO Java that supports 64-bit Applets, therefore applets do not work from the embedded browser – nor from a 64-bit IE browser. Applets only work with the 32-bit browsers.
Product Structure Explorer (PSE) is your best example of a Java Applet – that does not work from ProE 64-bit.

He would like to know how the bet goes.
