9.x - Are you using the Program functionality?

If so how are you using it? I'm trying to see if we have a use for it here, it may solve some issues, but I'm not 100% sure on its intended use.

We have many programs here and map them to Products (since 7.0 days).
After 4 years of telling users Products = Programs, Products = Program,
Products = Programs, now I have Products = Programs but ignore Programs.
I will be hiding that tab via profiles.

Some of our programs have a couple of Products and several Projects. I'm
wondering if it makes sense to create a Program to include those, and
any supporting libraries. I'm not sure there is any added benefit. I
think you can use it as an additional context to store "Program"
documents and such. I haven't really dug to much deeper into it.
