Bulk loading ACLs with Team roles as Principals.

Experts,
I have noticed that the out of the box Load tool to bulk load the
AccessControlRules works when the principals (user/groups) are internal
users (regular named users or groups). However it does not understand
the team roles (roleGroups) as principals

We need to update bunch of access rules for the existing libraries. I
have the option of going through massive number of clicks or find a tool
to bulk load.

If any one of you came across this issue, could you please let me know
how you have solved it? I will summarize the info and post it back.

I think you can only use team roles for setting up ACLs at Lifecycle level.
But not through Policy Admin. You can load the Lifecycles with necessary
ACLs using team roles.

Don't know of any method - interested if you find one.

This is what led us a few years ago to put huge effort into planning how to put most ACL's up a level and avoid having massive numbers of them to maintain. If you are making a lot of changes, I'd still recommend that - gut each Product and Library of all that are common and put these at Org level.

Prathap - Thanks for the correction. What I meant was the Container Team
Roles (ex: Library Manager, Guest etc..).

What version and build of Windchill are you using?



We used to be on 9.1 F000 and it was possible, but since we upgraded to
9.1 M030 and it's not working any more. We have a PTC tech support call
open on this and is waiting for a solution.
