CADworker Setup

Hello,

Is it possible to set up windchill to utilize a CADWORKER that has multiple instances. We are migrating from 3.4 to 9.1 m050 and nothing has ever been published for productview. I was planning to publish everything after the migration. With a single CADWORKER it will take several+ weeks after migration to complete. I configured the CADWORKER to have multiple instances. Even though there were 3 xtops running on the CADWORKER only one was being utilized and the CADWORKER has plenty of hardware resources.

You need to configure a publishing queue, one for each cad worker. I had
success creating separate cad worker instances on the same machine.
Instead of one worker with 3 instances, 3 workers with one instance
each. They could all be running on the same machine, you just need to
create a virtual hostname like cadworker1, cadworker2, cadworker3. In
the past, I found that at some point, based on your hardware, running
more workers is pointless. It always starts at the first one to see if
its available. So the first one will process the most jobs and each
worker will drop off from there to a point where it does not pay to add
a forth or fifth.

I have 2 workers with 1 instance each and have found that I need 4
PublisherQueues in order to fully utilize them.

Thank you for the replies that led me to TAN 135487 with detailed instructions.

A follow up to this.

Now that I am publishing with 3 queues I noticed that there is a lot more files showing up in the file vault than I had expected. It's like 3-4 files or more for each object that a viewable is created for. From the business admin guide this is possible with several file types (.ol, .plt, .pvs, .pvz)

The recipe for the CADWORKERS are OOTB. Any recommendations?

Joe
