CIP SOAP Client (line 1, column 1): The main XML document cannot be empty

PDMLink 8.0 M030
WF3 M200
IE 7

Some of our users are receiving following message at the bottom of Pro/E
screen when trying to save cad files.

CIP SOAP Client (line 1, column 1): The main XML document cannot be
empty

This accompanied by pop up that warns of server being unavailable, and
user has chooks yes or no to go offline.

If user chooses yes, he/she's taken offline. But if user chooses no,
everything falls back to normal for some time. User can access
workspace, commonspace, save and check-in files etc. Any clue as to why
system is thinking that server is unavailable pretty much randomly). We
have 1GB network.

TIA

Another very common cause of this issue (especially when working in a WAN environment) is the KeepAliveTimeout value in Apache's httpd.conf. In 8.0, the default was 15 seconds, and this was changed to an even tighter 5 seconds in the version of Apache used with 9.0. At our site, we found that a value of 45 seconds seems to work well. The TAN number is 141707.

If you find that the issue is occurring more with WAN users than local users, this is likely the culprit.
