Change Management: How best to create Non-CAD tasks in Imp. Plan

We are working on using the OOTB Windchill Change Managment Functionality. So far our process fits fairly well into the process. I have questions about creating the Implementation plan, specifically for tasks that do not change CAD models.

The tasks generated in the Change Notice by default appear to be intended as a mechanism to track the process of Revising a released CAD file. I would like to also use these tasks to generate assignments to perform testing, conduct supplier reviews/ changes and other tasks outside of Pro/E (Creo). As usual, I presume I am missing something obvious.

Thanks,

Hi Bob, ProjectLink and Windchill 10 really help meet this need with OOTB functionality.

1- WC10 allows you to configure your ECR/ECN form and organize all of the attributes.

2- Profiles for certain individuals will hide attributes you don't want them to see.

3- WC10 also allows you to create a Change Task that has no reviewer via small button switch in wizard. This helps with those tasks that aren't related to data but are instead more of a "project" style task.

4- WC10 PDMLink married with ProjectLink gives you the ability to sequence Change Tasks much like you would in a Project plan. This is key to making the OOTB fit better as it allows you to create your own workflow so to speak at the change task level.

Hey BTW, since you make Jake Brakes...maybe you could make them a bit quieter. I live to close to a freeway hill and curse your company nightly :).

Thanks to all who replied (To Steve: Sorry about the noise, Butthat's more about themaintenance of the truck than a feature of the product.)

I should have mentionedupfront thatI am currently working with 9.1m062 first. But Steve's reponse just makes the path to 10.1 more attractive.

My initial concern was how to create tasks in the CN that werent CAD.Which was simple, you just bypass the Affected/ resulting page.

There's a lot to this process when trying to dovetail an existing process into a new structure. Luckily our current change process matches that of PDMLink (At least it has so far...)

Thanks,
