Change Management session at Planet PTC

Change Management session at Planet PTC

There was a very well-attended presentation by Jeff Z. today in Orlando on change management overall, esp. showing what's new in 10.x.

We have been using Windchill change management for a little over 2 years, and have completed over 10,000 changes. During this time we've learned some things, and want to now re-evaluate all and configure somethings differently as we go from 9.1 to 10.1 later this year.

Anyone who is experienced with change management and would like to compare notes, disccuss options, etc. - please let me know - I intend to set up and conduct multiple informal web sessions (open to anyone) to share approaches on especially:

- Use change object revisions or not

- Use change object sub types / attributes or not

- Approach for routing to approvers / reviewers and notifying all who are interested

- Approach to collecting ALL affected data

- Code (will be business rules) to validate data (e.g. is something checked out)

- Approach to multiple change tasks

- Approach to defining exactly what is to be changed, on documents, drawings, BOMs

- Approach to exploratory changes (e.g. create multiple concepts for cost reductions)

- Approach to variable Roles in CRB / CIB each time (e.g. depending on what is being changed, Marketing may / may be required to approve)

thanks in advance
