Changing the Windchill Preference: Default Promotion Processes

Hey, I was wondering if anyone has experience in changing the Windchill preference "Default Promotion Processes" by adding more processes?  One of the processes listed is Notification, which is exactly what I want it to do.  I think the process is from ProjectLink, there is a Notification Routing that can be used there.

Any downsides or limitations?  Best Practices?

We have used this quite a lot, Provided the workflow is written so that it is not expecting a primary business object type of a specific class then it should be ok.

You can also restrict the workflows available based on the state transitions if that is of use.
