CreoView not starting

Version: Windchill 13.0

Use Case: Not able to publish new check-ins.

Description:

CreoView Adapter 10.1 has been up and running since October on the Windchill 13.0.2 server. Updated to Windchill 13.0.2 CPS03 last Friday and CreoView was still publishing. Suddenly this morning, it failed and it will not restart. I have even rebooted the Windchill server to see if that would allow the publishing to resume. No jobs  'stuck' in publishing mode, but a few parts that were checked in are waiting for images to be created. This is the email message fro mWIndchill: Windchill Visualization worker <SERVER.DOMAIN>-PROE:1 failed to start and has been disabled.

The funny thing is that part is only a UniStrut channel from the AFX library with end cuts.

The other UniStrut channels in that asssembly are only 1 file and all from the AFX library.

Just rebooted both the Oracle and Windchill servers and it is still not publishing.

Found the issue. Creo was still looking at the old license server that we shutdown 3 weeks ago. Jobs did publish in that time until this morning.

Everything is back up and running as it should.

Just clarifying details. You are saying your worker is not starting and publishing is failing. Is your worker local to the server? Since you rebooted Windchill server, that takes care of any stuck process on the background methodserver which sometimes happens. Look into the worker specifically. Did yoy try cleaning up files (purge), remove workspace folders and other temp files? Are you able to start it manually from the CAD worker side?  Is WorkerDaemon functioning? I assume you are seeing that worker fails to start and it goes inactive right?

Worker is local to the server. In Worker Agent Administration, it says Fails to Start.

On the server, the WorkerDaemon and workermonitor processes are running and so is a Creo 9 process.

I have deleted the .wf and the .wld folders from my main CVA Runtime folder. I have a purge batch file that deletes all of the background files when CreoView is not running.

I tried to start proeworker manually as Administrator and it starts the processes. When I got WAA and start the publishing, it runs proestartup and I get the Deleting .wf folder message.

Ok, worker might be able to start but perhaps Creo is not starting. Licenses? The log also showed did not find available worker of type PROE. Is the worker showing "fails to start", offline or disabled in the WAA? Wow, one part has 1374 dependent files? Damn.

Glad you got it fixed. See, license server! Worker started but not Creo. In future, restarting Oracle DB is so far removed from these issues, don't need to do that. You don't even need a reboot. Sometimes whacking the background MS and letting it restart is all you need. Restarting the Windchill process is sufficient too if you want to do it more safely.
