Error in Item creation : error while uploading the file, TYPEERROR: fileUploadApplet.getTargetApplet is not a function.

I have added some extra sub types and Standard attributes in windchill 10.0 from admin user in site context.  When i try to create any kind of part now, it is giving the above mentioned error.

Whats the error in method server log? Which object are you creating? Could you switch to basic browser in your upload preference and try again

You also want to make sure that you are using a version of Java that is compatible with the version of Windchill if you are using Java applet as the file upload mechanism.

When making that setting change it removes the drag-n-drop icons for Change Requests/Change Notices.  It's unfortunate that feature has to be turned off so some of my users can complete a CR or CN.  The users like it.

Thank you all for help. The issue is now resolved. It was a java applet issue. i resolved it by following these steps.

1. 1. Clear the Java Cache
2. 2. Ensure that all browsers are closed prior to clearing the java cache
3. 3. When the new document wizard is launched select Run when asked The application's digital signature has been verified. Do you want to run the application?

Workaround:

1. 1. Change File Upload Mechanism so that the Java applet is not used:
2. 2. Browse to Site > Utilities > Preference Manager
3. 3. For Attachments section, right click File Upload Mechanism preference
4. 4. Click Set Preference
5. 5. Select Use basic browser functionality to select and upload files
6. 6.      Click OK
