Intralink 9.1 - Print-out of Policy Admin Access Control Rules

Good morning 'chillers,

When in Policy Administrator and viewing the list of Access Control Rules within a given Domain, the listcan be rather lengthy and extend well beyond the size of the dialog box requiring much scrolling up and down.

1. Does anybody know of a simpleway to print the list of Access Control Rules for a Domain?

2. Even better, is there a way to export the list of Access Control Rules to something like a .csv file for importation into an Excel spreadsheet (where planning could be done outside of the Windchill environment)?

TIA.

One of our consultants wrote a program in 9.1, and another for 10.0, to
dump all of the access control rules to a file. I'm attaching them as a
zip file, if you are interested in using them. You have to modify these
programs for your own site, then use them at your own risk. Do not
attempt to use these programs if you do not know how to set up and run
your own Java program on your own development system. I cannot take any
specific questions on how it works. Either it is useful and you can
re-purpose it to your own site, or you can't.

But this information does not tell the whole access story since it will
not include any workflow task-based access granted on specific objects as
part of a running process. It also does not include state-based ad hoc
access granted through the life cycle templates. I also don't think this
list includes any folder-based access rules created using the folder-based
"Manage Security" feature.

The attached query builder report also provides all ACLs in the system, along with context / created / last modified.
Don't know how long the program took to develop; the report took 6 minutes to develop.

Notes
Can filter by Type, using wildcard if desired. One downside - It reports any subtypes by their ida2a2, not the display name; need to look this up in the type def table.
Need a modified report for 10.0 because "Negative" is no longer used.

What they (PTC) needs to do is abandon several of their old school ways and
means of configuring and reporting in the system and integrate the ability
to perform extract , transform, loads, etc. from within only a JSCA like
table. i.e. Use the concept of a configurable table to give us full access
to anything stored in the database without all the fuss of query builder or
the need to write java code (or any code). The intelligence to do this is
not all that hard in fact. All of the cornerstones were made available in
9.x and improved in 10.x.
