Is there a recycler in Windchill

Hi everybody,

is there a recycle-function in Windchill (like the Windows recycle-bin).

E.g. a designer deletes accidentially a assembly. Can the orgadmin or site-admin recycle the deleted assembly, or is it gone forever.

And if deleted by one of the admins, is it then (really) gone?

Best Regards,

Benjamin

Short answer, no.

Long answer, there are still options for getting the data back.

  1. Use workspace frames (if enabled) to roll back prior to the workspace delete event.
  2. Use a workspace cache recovery tool to locate the original CAD files (if they're still there.)
  3. Locate the unreferenced files on the server and recover them (if they were uploaded and haven't been purged.)

See this discussion for a description of options 2 and 3: Re: How to retrieve an uploaded object that was removed from workspace

One more option that I've used for recovering Data out of a user's local cache folder is the "Restore" function in Windows Explore.  This is last resort after 1 and 2 have been used above.
