Java; Finding workspace where EPMDocument is checked out

Hi,

I have a java program that alters the attributes for an EPMDocument. This works fine when the document is checked in, but when checked out only the common space copy is altered but not the copy that resides in a workspace. When checking back in the document I end up with the old value in the attribute. How can I find the workspace where the checked out copy resides ?
