Login help

I could really use some help. We were doing some change management testing on our test server (not sure if it is related) and now one of the users is not able to log into the test server. She was able to do it the day before, but not today. The first thing I check is to make sure that she is entering her username and password correctly. That checks out. Then I restart the server. Still not able to log in.

I am able to login as a user and as the administrator and this happens on several machines and browsers. It looks like just this one user is not authenticating.

I am not sure what to do next...Any suggestions?

Thanks
Rich

Check the Apache error log under [Apache Home]/logs/error_log to see if the user is found in LDAP and if the password is correct. Here are some example logs for common errors.

Example user not found error:
[Mon Oct 11 13:00:36 2010] [warn] [client 192.1.1.1] [20341] auth_ldap authenticate: user testuser authentication failed; URI /Windchill/servlet/Navigation [User not found][No such object], referer:

I tried changing her password thru principal admin, but that did not work.

I changed the password to something simple and it still will not let that user into the system. When I check the Apache error log it give me the bas password error. What else could it be?

Sorry, I forgot to mention that we are running Windchill 9.0 M050.

If you're using active directory,

- changing the Windchill password is n/a; only the network password matters

- make sure that the user can log onto their workstation (their network password may have expired)

We are not using active directory with Windchill and she was able to log off of her machine and login again without any issues.

Did you rehost? If so Try changing their password on the system you
rehosted from. If that works you have a pointer in the ldap db still
pointing to the other server.

That was it. My rehosted test system is pointing to our production system.

Thank you all for helping me out.
