Modify & workspace status not shown in inactive workspaces

While in Pro/E and switching between workspaces, we notice something unusual.
If we view an inactive workspace, the "workspace status" collumn is no longer displayed.
And the "modify status" collumn is completely clear, as if nothing was modified (when we know otherwise).
This is basically what is displayed in a stand-alone browser.
Is this normal?
This behavior can cause a lot of confusion.

Yes. Until you upload the modifications then a stand-alone browser or the
embedded browser (non-activated workspace) will NOT show the object as modified.

You can set config.pro dm_upload_objects to automatic to force an upload when
objects (checked out only) are saved. Or always do a "File | Save and Upload"
from Pro/Engineer (again only works on checked out objects).

This question is related to the "Upload Modified Not Checked Out" that Brian
sent out earlier.

Yes. Make sure your users (and you) clearly understand the ramifications between
modifications have been uploaded vs modifications have NOT been uploaded.

Thanks to all that replied.
The answer is: Inactive workspaces are displayed as if in a stand-alone broser, and do not reflect the cache.
I also found a TAN at PTC's knowledgebase that also confirmed tha this is intended behavior.
However, they did not state why.
