Naming and Numbering of CAD documents

Currently our CAD document naming system is "Name-Driven".

Q1. Can we swith to "Number-Driven" system as described in Using
Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire with Windchill(r) Guide to Pro/ENGINEER Data
Management in Windchill

Q2. Is is possible to apply this to documents already present?

Yugendra,

Not sure if I'm understanding your questions correctly but if you are in
PDMLink, I believe you are already Number Driven. What this means is that
the number attribute has to have a unique value but the name can be the
same. Therefore you can't have 2 different parts with a number of 123 but
you can have 123 and 234 numbered parts having the same name. Does your
number values probably look like a name because it was migrated from Intralink?

Rey,
We are already in PDMLink and Number-driven (File name>>Number). But
most of our legacy parts that were migrated from 3.4 have same
information Name, Number and file name fields. That doesn't help much
when users want to browse to product folders. We will like to copy Pro/E
parameter Part Name into Winndchill Name field if possible. Wanted to
know if any one has tried that before.
We are also planning to move from 8.0 to 9.1. Would that be opportunity
to make any tweaks?
