New attribute constraint apply to existing data?

Hello,

I would like to add a new restriction to the attribute "NAME" of my CAD Document in term of string length.

I was wondering if it will be applied to the existing data.

Will the existing CAD document with a name longer than the limit will be truncated?

When edit the existing object, if the length exceeds the specified limit, Windchill will not allow object save/check in.
