Number, Name and Filename

Does anybody have any input on the relationship between Number, Name and Filename.

Are these supposed to be sycronized?

When I rename a prt and drw only the "Name" field for the objects change.

I made this about 3 years ago after reading similar stuff you're wading thru and thinking "what in the world are they talking about?" The writer obviously wasn't a Pro/E user.

Mapping fields in screen captures makes pictures that are worth a thousand words.

Watch out for "Rename." The menu picks: Edit, Rename, Edit Common Attributes all get involved here. The ACL's: Modify, Modify Identity allow various subsets. These act of: Number, Name, Filename.

I am running into the Number, Name & File Name being different between 2 ways to auto-associate cad > wtpart.

Workspace does it right & check in through NX WGM doesnt.

It might be due to the epmdoc soft type being used for the NX, which points to a wtpart soft type. Not sure.

So I might have a question or 2 shortly.
