PDMLink rename fail

Good Afternoon All,

I have a mystery. PDMLink will not let me rename a Pro/E file to a particularName/numberbecause it says that Name/ Number is already used by a file. A search for that particular file gives no results. The number has never existed in our database.

So why does Windchill believe this file exists whenI cannot find it?

We run WC 9.1 M062

Are you using site/org admin login ? if not..you should log in as admin so that system can show newly uploaded files
which are not checked into Windchill..
Normal users can't find them in their search and also can't check-in as already existed on other users server workspace.
If you've logged in as admin and if it's not showing..log a call with PTC..as it might be a bug or some configuration issue.

Thanks toRay Drennen, Dan Wolf and Venakata Kotrafor engaging this thread.

I have tried the Search and Rename as Site and Org admin with the same results. To Venkata's and Dan'sexcellent point the search did not indicate a version existing in a workspace or anywhere else.

Do you know if you have security labels enabled? This is an interesting feature that allows data that would normally be accessible to a specific user become hidden because they are not in the group for that label. For example, Security labels have been enabled (they are off by default) via a preference and you create one called "ITAR Controlled Object". You will have a Group for that Label. A user can have permission to create a document via being on the team and ACL's. If they create the object and set the label to Yes but they are not in the group, the Object is created, but the creator suddenly looses the ability to see or search for it. (A security Agreement can return access but has to be set up by the proper Agreement object.)

If you have this situation, adding the user to the group should be able to take care of the problem.

Good Luck,
