This problem did not start until Friday afternoon...
When I click the "open file" button or go to file>>open, ProE suddenly closes out. I can occasionally get it to work when I am not connected to a workspace server.
Any thoughts on what this might be?

I've seen this before when there is a corrupted file in the workspace.
If you don't have any new or modified files in your workspace, just delete your .wf file. When Pro/E starts, it will create a new one and have you reconnect to the server.
