Problem with Search on Rehosted Server

We've had this issue since the first day that I rehosted our production server to create a test server (8 months or so). It never really bothered anyone using the test server until recently. Now....apparently....people expect everything to work as it was intended....the nerve of some people.
Here's the problem:The "search" capability doesn't work. No matter what we type in....no matter if it is day time or night time, hot outside or cold outside, whether I'm asleep or awake........we always get the same result (see search2.jpg).
Does anyone have any idea what I broke and how to fix it?
I'm tempted to use a hammer to fix it....but I.T. keeps that machine locked away somewhere that I can't find it. I tried using the Windchill search to find the machine that has Windchill on it....but this created some weird kind of circular reference.....haha....ok enough with the bad jokes.

I can help you with this. The rehosted ldap either still retains wrong
config from your production system or missing altogether

.ptcRepositoryDefinition is related to Info*Engine and the search uses it.
The distinguished name for the definition is likely incorrect. Browse to
the directory server look for these, in fact a utility for Info*Engine let's
you edit these.package manager.launch it and correct it for the ootb
search.see Info*Engine Admin guide
