Project to Project share CAD Documents

I have a lot of users who want to be able to do a Project to Project share with the CAD Drawings (AutoCAD and Inventor) but it looks like it isn't possible. Am I missing something in ProjectLink? They want to use the same design in multiple projects with slight changes to make them different.
