RoHS specification name

RoHS specification name

As you know that EU has issued RoHS recast as 2011/65/EU which has replaced some items required under RoHS 2002/95/EC (the latest amendment is 2011/534/EU). You can note relative information at Articel 26 of 2011/65/EU. Obviously, 2011/65/EU covers more product categories than RoHS 1. Medical Device, Mornitoring and Control Device and etc. are involved. We would like to get feedback from you about the RoHS 2 name in WPA. In WPA now, the name is set as EU ROHS 2, MEDICAL, MONITORING AND CONTROL, Revision 2011/65/EU. But the reality is RoHS 2 is not only covered these three product categories. How do you think about it? Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.

This question relates to how we are currently assigning the Compliance Specification Revision for RoHS in alignment with the set of exemptions that apply to the WPA implementation of that specification. In the case of RoHS General we currently set this revision to 2011/534/EU as this aligns with the current set of exemptions we are handling in the regulation and aligns with the IPC1752A standard for the reporting of RoHS exemptions. The EU ROHS 2 Medical, Monitoring and Control specification uses the 2011/65/EU revision as it aligns with legislation that introduced the new set of exemptions for these product categories as well as aligning with the IPC1752A standard for reporting of applicable exemptions.

As the RoHS recast evolves, we will consider changing the revision for the RoHS General and RoHS Consumer specifications in the future.

But I think that RoHS is not only direct to exemptions, we can't differentiate its name based on the exemptions list. RoHS 2 also contains the previous exemptions besides the one you mentioned related to Medical, Monitoring and Control.
