SAP PLM Integration as PDM for Pro/E

SAP PLM Integration as PDM for Pro/E

Our company is exploring options to substitute current PDM system Intralink 3.4 which would eventually due to future upgrades of Pro/E became incompatible and unsupported. The latter is already true.

We are looking for solutions that would'nt only operate as PDM but wouldalso connect SAP ERP system, via design and material BOM's.

We had presentation of the SAP PLM Integration for Pro/ENGINEER product, but are not quite convinced it would succesfully manage Pro/E specific features like family tables, copy geometry features, skeletons, relations,...

Does any of you guys have any experiences with above mentioned product and would be willing to share?

TIA,

Jure

As tough as PDMLink can be to use, I can't see any other system being any
better with Pro/E data than PDMLink. And PDMLink comes with a build-in
release to ERP system function specially configured to work with SAP. We
use Baan, so we had to write our own middleware. But even with that,
PDMLink will generate enough XML for a release to ERP using out of the box
software that making the connection is easier than using something else.

I know that Caterpillar has made TeamCenter work with Pro/E, but they have
experience quite a few technical challenges to make that possible. I
really think PDMLink is your best bet.

Hi

we are at tue outset of a large implementation worldwide of Windchill and SAP and we intent to link the two together.

As mentioned above ProE and PDMLink works perfectly together. Otherwise would have been surprising since they are both from the same editor. We have not yet tested any communication between PDMLink and SAP but according to our consultants both PLM and ERP, there is no reason why we cannot do what we want.

In addition, I think it is easier to migrate Intralink to PDMLink than from Intralink to any other system. Here again Intralink is from PTC.
